About Me

I love learning! When I was a child in Missouri, we lived in an historic home on the Pioneer Trail, at the end of a cul-de-sac and the edge of the woods. We wandered, imagined, explored, and performed. I taught myself to read before attending kindergarten and never stopped. Our family loves to travel (my dad was a pilot; my mom, a "stewardess"), and I have explored the United States, Western Europe, and the Middle East.

Studying for a time in Paris, I completed a BA in English and French Education from Brigham Young University. After just one semester teaching in a public school setting, I realized there had to be something more. I found it years later, in Oliver DeMille’s A Thomas Jefferson Education. I received an MA in Education from George Wythe University. My Master’s thesis was entitled Everything is History

While pursuing my own education, I home-schooled my two children and created a mom-school for them and their peers, during their young adult years, using history as the hook. I also taught Extension Classes at George Wythe.

At a public charter school for four years, I mentored classes in Leadership, Literature, Writing, and French Culture, using history as the hook. I then co-founded Family Lyceum--A Family-Centered Educational Support, in Layton, Utah.

I am now beyond thrilled to share with other mentors how to offer, and obtain, a true cultural education using History as the Hook!
